Join and separate objects with modifiers

Join Objects: Shift-select objects, then select last the one with the modifiers you want to keep — others will inherit its modifiers when you press Ctrl + J to join.

Separate Mesh: In Edit Mode, select part of the mesh (e.g. with Select Linked), then press P > Selection. The new object keeps modifiers but shares the original object's origin. You may have to reset the origin (see other stories about origins).
